CONVENTO SAN FRANCISCO
Colonial-style building housing a chapel rebuilt in Neoclassical style in the century with a Baroque-style interior
At the beginning of the 17th century, the Franciscan order was the first religious order to settle in the city. The colonial-style building was built in 1589, while its chapel was rebuilt in neoclassical style in the 19th century and its interior is in Baroque style. The roof still dates back to colonial times.
In 1951 the building was classified as a National Historic Monument.
Because of its strategic location, many evangelizing missions left this convent to go and convert the Indians.
