PLAZA 25 DE MAYO

Situated a cuadra from La Costanera, this is surely the city's most beautiful square. Attractively planted with trees, its centerpiece is the equestrian statue of General San Martín. It's a great place to relax with friends or family, usually in the late afternoon. The square is surrounded by a number of historic buildings featuring fine architecture, such as the Legislatura Provincial, which takes on a beautiful hue at sunset. Other highlights include the ^17th-century La Merced church and the Casa del Gobierno.
