REDUCCIÓN SAN IGNACIO MINÍ
Ruins of the "Mini" mission, the best-preserved and most imposing in Argentina, a UNESCO World Heritage site
This is where you will discover Argentina's best preserved and most imposing ruins, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Be aware that if reconstruction work is underway, the ruins are very small... The ruins in Trinidad near Encarnación, Paraguay, are much more impressive, better preserved and easier to access from Misiones.
The Guaraní Indians named the mission "Mini", which means "smaller" to distinguish it from San Ignacio Guazú, located in Paraguay. It was first founded in 1610 in Brazil by two Italian Jesuit fathers, José Cataldino and Simon Masseta, and then it was decided to migrate to other skies (together with the mission of Loreto) to protect themselves from bandit attacks. The journey lasted one year, starting in 1631, on the Río Paraná (12,000 natives were on the crossing). It was decided to settle near the Yaberibí stream, before finally settling in the place we know today, in 1696. The city covered 1,687 km² and was home to 4,000 Guaraní Indians. Today we can only see 8 of the 20 blocks that made up the mission. The construction of the temple, which measures 74 m by 24 m, required 36 years of work. At its peak, the village had a well-stocked library, a hospital and a music conservatory. A restoration process was initiated in 2004 to safeguard this rich historical heritage.

during our stay in South America. I end that I saw the ruins... but I am not sure that was really worth a visit. The journey bus between Iguacu and San Ignacio is particularly long! There are many stops although they sell tickets by saying that the journey is direct. Ah! Ah! Was well made take! The bus made enter practically all world that there was on the roadside. Once there, the bus leaves us on an overland route in the heart of no share! It is a small village with a certain charm... and many mosquitoes! I loved the ruins, they are well preserved and I loved the peaceful energy of the place. And it is all, there is turned to Iguaçu.
