Iguazú National Park is located in the province of Misiones, in northeastern Argentina, on the border with Brazil. It is home to one of the world's most spectacular waterfalls, 80 metres high and 2,700 metres long. The falls form a semi-circle and are surrounded by a subtropical rainforest that is home to a wide variety of animal species, including tapirs, giant anteaters, howler monkeys, ocelots, jaguars and caimans. The park has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1984. It is managed by the Argentine national government and forms part of Argentina's National System of Federally Protected Areas. Tourism is an important activity in the park, with many national and international visitors. However, tourism management is a major challenge in minimizing environmental impacts and raising awareness of nature conservation.
