CATEDRAL DE CÓRDOBA
A cathedral with a central nave, the fine work of Emilio Caraffa, was begun by the famous architect Blanqui in 1729
A building that displays several styles, as construction took place between 1574 and 1784. Cabrera, the founder of the city, ordered a first construction which collapsed a few years later. Twenty years later, a new construction site was launched to erect a stronger building. Later, a new architect is commissioned to enlarge the cathedral... which collapses again! Finally, in 1729, the famous architect Blanqui began a more ambitious project. Emilio Caraffa's beautiful work on the vault of the central nave is noteworthy.
