IGLESIA SANTA CATALINA DE SIENA
Church with a Jesuit cloister, featuring a carved and gilded altarpiece, rococo Baroque side altars and a wooden pulpit
This Jesuit cloister, with a neoclassical façade, was built in 1613 at another location in the city. The present building was moved in 1641. The present church dates from the 19th century. It is arranged according to the plans of the time: to the left of the church, the cemetery, to the right, the outbuildings of the monks' daily life, to the north, the vegetable garden. The church has a carved altarpiece gilded with gold leaf, side altars in Baroque Rococo style and a remarkable ebony pulpit.
