THE GREAT THERMAL BATHS
Building designed by architect Benjamin Chaussemiche in Châtel-Guyon, blending ancient and Romanesque architecture.
This majestic edifice, a blend of ancient and Romanesque architecture, was designed between 1904 and 1906 by architect Benjamin Chaussemiche, Grand Prix de Rome winner in 1883. With its red marble columns, floral coffered vault and two horseshoe-shaped staircases, the vestibule is the most remarkable part of the building. The site is open on Heritage Days or for guided tours on request. This emblematic building of Belle Époque thermalism is now disused. It is due to become a hotel in the next few years.
