RUINS OF SAN FRANCISCO
Last ruins of the church, which once had a nave, chapels, a presbytery and a handsome facade with 2 towers
The church was built by the Jesuits in the 17th century. At the time, this residence was supposed to help evangelize the Amerindians of the province. When they were expelled in 1767, the sanctuary was taken over by the Franciscans. However, on March 20, 1861, following an earthquake, the convent was totally destroyed. The last ruins of the building, which at that time had a grandiose nave, numerous chapels, a presbytery and a beautiful façade decorated with two large towers reaching up to the sky, can still be admired today.
