CONVENTO SANTO DOMINGO

A must-see convent in San Juan, with an old cloister and only 2 cells or dormitories still standing
The Dominicans were the first to settle in San Juan to deliver their teaching. The earthquake of 1944 had no mercy on the colonial buildings. However, it is still possible to admire the old cloister from the 17th century, although only two cells or dormitories are still standing. General San Martín, one of the heroes of South American and Argentinean independence, stayed here in 1815 during the campaign to liberate Chile. A small visit that is worth the detour for those interested in history.
