Museum of the sugar industry with a tour of the first automatic machine for processing sugar cane
Bishop Colombres introduced the cultivation of sugar cane during the 19th century, an industry on which the development of the city was based. This place is also known as the Sugar Industry Museum. In this elegant residence, the attraction of the visit is the Trapiche, the first automatic machine to process sugar cane (a kind of sugar mill) in the province, in 1821. The building is listed as a National Historic Heritage Site.
