CONVENTO SAN BERNARDO

American Baroque convent, declared a National Historic Monument in 1914, housing a hospital and a Carmelite monastery
The Convento San Bernardo is not open to the public, but this is no reason not to admire it from the outside, especially for its cedarwood door, beautifully built in 1762 by the local Indians in one piece. Beautiful example of the American Baroque style. The convent, built in the 16th century, has housed a hospital, the San Andrés Hospital, and, since the middle of the last century, a Carmelite monastery. Its architecture has remained the same since its construction, and it was declared a National Historic Monument in 1941.
