CATEDRAL BASILICA DE SALTA
Cathedral with a neo-colonial Baroque façade, the early 19th-century Pantheon of the Heroes of the Northern Army
The cathedral imposes by its stature, its pink and white colours and its rich ornaments. Work began in 1858 after an earthquake destroyed the old building. The façade was completed 25 years later in a neo-colonial baroque style by an Italian team. Inside lie the remains of the famous Salta-born gaucho, Martín Miguel de Güemes, and other famous Salteños; the cathedral is the Pantheon of the Heroes of the Northern Army at the beginning of the 19th century.

Cette Cathédrale située en plein centre ville sur la grande place centrale reflète le passé colonial de la ville. C'est un bel ensemble qui mérite une visite.
