HISTORICAL RECORD
The oldest building in Salta, with its colonial architecture and patios, houses the Museo Histórico del Norte (Historical Museum of the North)
As is often the case, the Cabildo is the city's oldest building. Salta's Cabildo dates back to 1582 and is a typical example of colonial architecture, with its arcades and patios. It houses the Museo Histórico del Nord. It was first a public building, then a private one, destroyed and then rebuilt. The last restoration was carried out in 1945 by Mario Buschiazzo, who also restored the Cabildo de Buenos Aires and the Casa de la Independencia. Changing-the-guard ceremony Wednesdays at 5 p.m. and Saturdays at 11 a.m., except in spring and summer.
