7-colour mountain with splendid views, close to the center of Purmamarca, offering a free tour and a pleasant stroll

It is the main attraction of this pretty village! The tour of the Cerro de los sietes colores (mountain of seven colors) is free, the path is very easy, not to be confused with the 50 pesos tourist trap that consists in climbing the first mountain that overlooks the village, very close to the center! Here you can walk a few kilometers, or do it by car. It is a pleasant walk, preferably done at a time of the day when it is still a little cool, as the heat can be intense in the afternoon. Purmamarca is nestled in the heart of the Seven Colors Mountain, so you will see it from the center, watching over the village. Throughout the discovery of the Andes, you will see mountains of various colors. These colors are not unique to the Andes, but are the result of a recent mountain formation that has made underground formations visible on the surface of the Earth. You will see the same type of landscape in the Himalayas. Each color indicates its age: from red to 80 million years old to white 3 million years old. During your trip you will often see this type of breathtaking mixture, but the Seven Colors Mountain of Purmamarca is one of the few places where you will be able to contemplate the entire color palette. The vision is splendid and you can extend it by going around the mountain by the small path that passes in front of the cemetery (a small hour of walk).
