MUSEO ARQUEOLÓGICO
Museum with 4 rooms, offering a visit to see pottery, fossils, 3 well-preserved mummies and everyday tools
Four rooms feature relics of the Humahuaca peoples who lived in the region before the Incas invaded. Pottery, fossils and everyday tools are on display in the old house of Dr. Torres Aparicio. Also on display are three well-preserved mummies found in the area: those of Rosalía, a woman discovered in a cave in the fetal position, as well as a second mummy, and that of a child. A truly interesting collection, well worth a visit to understand the burial rites of this Andean people.
