Caves with ancient cave paintings, where you can learn about the way of life and history of the original peoples
These 4,000-year-old caves contain fascinating cave paintings. A road sign will lead you to the lake, where a friendly guide will show you the biodiversity of the local flora. You'll see hand stencils, human figures, guanacos and abstract geometric patterns, charged with complex metaphysical meaning. This site, discovered by Argentine explorer Francisco Pascasio Moreno in 1887, bears witness to the rich history of the original peoples, notably the Ahonikenk ethnic group, ancestors of the Tehuelches.
