STADE GABRIEL-MONTPIED
Its name pays tribute to the former mayor of Clermont-Ferrand and member of the French Resistance, Gabriel Montpied (1944-1973). Located in the Champratel district to the north of the city, it was inaugurated in 1995. The stadium is home to Clermont Foot, a professional club now playing in Ligue 1. The stadium is gradually increasing its capacity. By 2024, it should be able to accommodate 16,200 people, compared with 10,800 today, including 3,200 modular seats. The capacity of the parking lot will be increased to 1,700 spaces. This will be just the beginning of a lengthy three-phase transformation, with the aim of eventually reaching a capacity of 30,000 spaces. Expansion work began in 2023.
