The fastest will take a short time. Window-shoppers, coffee breaks and detours will spend a pleasant half day. Departure from Place de Jaude, in the shade of the statue of Vercingetorix. Head towards the pedestrian street of November 11 and walk down to Place Gaillard. Then head towards the Saint-Pierre market and its stalls filled with food. At the other end of the market square, the small rue Saint-Pierre runs alongside the beautiful courtyard of the Hôtel Fontfreyde. This is rue des Gras, in front of the cathedral. Reach its imposing facade and take the stairs on the left, walk to the town hall, rue Marcombes. Pass it then, after a break to admire the view of Place de la Poterne, head towards Rue du Port, which will take you to the Notre-Dame-du-Port Basilica for a peaceful stop. Take rue du Port to rue Pascal, where the great notables of Clermont-Ferrand once lived. You will reach the Place du Terrail and its small fountain. Continue towards Savaron streets then Abbé Girard which will lead you to the other side of the hillock on the Ballainvilliers square and its few terraces. If the weather is fine, why not trace it back to the Lecoq garden? Otherwise, go back to the cathedral via rue de la Treille, then go down to the Place de Jaude, via the discreet rue des Chaussetiers, or to the Place Sugny and the Opera, where the horizon opens onto the puy de Dôme.
