RAAN JAY FAI
Excellent Thai street food concocted by an internationally renowned chef in the historic centre of Bangkok.
One of the most famous street food stalls in the world after the Michelin guide awarded it a star. Its 78-year-old owner, Raan Jay Fai, cooks the dishes herself behind her big ski goggles, which protect her from splashes. Thai classics are revisited, such as Tom Yum Kung or yellow crab curry, but her great specialty remains the crab omelette. Foodies flock here in droves, and you have to drop in before opening time to hope for a table... in the evening. Or book several months in advance. Excessive prices.
