This pillar, built by Rama IV, is considered a lucky place in Bangkok, where wishes always come true.
It was the first building to be erected, even before the construction of the Grand Palace on the orders of Rama I. It therefore served as the foundation stone for the creation of Bangkok. It was laid on Sunday April 21, 1782. A second pillar was added by Rama IV. In 1982, it was completely renovated to commemorate the birth of the city. For the Thais, it's a place of good luck and wish-fulfillment.
