SOMDET PHRA NARAI NATIONAL MUSEUM
A palace blending Khmer, Siamese and Western styles, with royal apartments, banqueting halls, residence...
The palace of King Narai was built from 1665 to 1677 with the help of a French architect. It presents a mix of Khmer, Siamese and Western styles. In addition to the royal apartments, the complex included banqueting halls, a residence for visitors, and the royal stables for elephants. Two buildings serve as a museum: the former residence of King Narai, and the much more recent (19th century) apartments of King Mongkut (Rama IV).
