CHAN ROYAL PALACE
Museum presenting the history of Phitsanulok, surrounded by the remarkable ruins of Wat Wihan Thong and Sri Sikhot temples.
In 1362, Sukhothai king Maha Thammaracha I moved his capital to Phitsanulok, and had the Chan Palace built on the west bank of the Nan River. The palace was the monarch's residence from the Sukhothai to the Ayutthaya periods. The museum provides historical information. In the surrounding area, several sites are worth a visit, including the ruins of Wat Wihan Thong and Sri Sikhot temples, with a remarkable Buddha statue. Nearby, on the banks of the river, you can admire the restored ramparts of Phitsanulok's old town.
