WAT THAI WATTANARAM
Mahayana Buddhist temple founded in 1857 by ethnic Burmese Thai Yai with a reclining Buddha and statues of seated Buddha.
This Mahayana Buddhist temple was built in 1857 by the Burmese Thai Yai ethnic group, and is located a few kilometers from Mae Sot in the village of Tha Sai Luat. It houses a long reclining Buddha and some thirty seated Buddha statues. The interior of the temple is, to the delight of the eye, very colorful! The second floor features an interesting collection of traditional local musical instruments. It's not unusual to see monks wandering around the complex. This original temple is one of the finest in the region.
