WAT PHRA KAEW DON TAO
A temple with Môn, Shan, Burmese and Lanna influences, located in Lampang, which is said to house a relic of Buddha's hair.
Founded in the 14th century, it is the main temple of the city. Famous for having sheltered the famous Buddha of emerald, at present in Wat Phra Kaew of Bangkok, this temple of influences Môn, Shan, Burmese and Lanna is decorated with superb mosaics. The chedi, 50 m high, would contain a relic of hair of Buddha. Partially gilded with fine gold, it is surrounded by seven statues of Buddha. The complex houses a small museum, accessible on donation.
