WAT PHUMIN
Admirable late temple with beautiful wall decorations dating from its restoration.
Built in 1596, this royal temple is the oldest in the city. The viharn is distinguished by its cross-shaped architecture, with four identical golden Buddha statues at its center, each facing an entrance. Wat Phumin is home to Hoob Tam murals of great aesthetic and historical value. They illustrate royal stories and scenes of daily life, added by Taï-Lü artists when they were restored in 1967, as well as the arrival of the French in the Nan valley at the end of the 19th century.
