It is an almost identical replica of the Mahabodhi temple stupa at Bodhgaya, in the state of Bihar, India. It was at Bodhgaya that Buddha attained enlightenment, under the bodhi tree around which the Indian temple was built. The chedi, Sri Maha Pho Chedi, is impressive with its 56 meters height. Opposite, a totally typical temple, with a flamboyant decoration, is also decorated with representations illustrating the life of Buddha. Right in front of the Wat is a green and red naga snake which adds to the charm of the temple.
