KHON KAEN NATIONAL MUSEUM
Museum housing a collection of objects on the region's geography, ancient cities and the customs of local ethnic groups
Inaugurated by King Bhumibol in 1972, this museum is eclectic and interesting in more ways than one. The permanent collection covers several themes: the geography of the region, utensils and objects, ancient cities, Dvaravati culture, Khmer or Lopburi culture, Thai-Lao culture, the evolution of art in Thailand, and the customs and habits of local ethnic groups. Several exhibits come from the Ban Chiang site. Temporary exhibitions are also held.
