WAT PHRA THAT PHANOM
This Laotian-style temple on the banks of the Mekong is particularly revered by local Thais.
This beautiful edifice on the banks of the Mekong is well worth a visit... The temple is said to have stood here for over 1,500 years! It was last restored in 1978. Laotian in style, it is particularly revered by local Thais and, around mid-February, an annual festival attracts thousands of pilgrims. The temple's chedi is over 50 m high, and no less than 110 kg of gold were used in its construction. To get there, take one of the songthaew shuttle buses, which cost around B30. Allow around 1h30 for the journey.
