Located on the banks of the Mekong River, this picturesque covered market is spread over two lanes. It stands on the site of the former governor's house. The adjoining harbour was once known as "the governor's jetty". Over the years, trade developed here and the area became a thriving market, mainly for products from Indochina and Eastern Europe. The pier was later renamed Tha Sadet. Today, it's where local people cross the river between Thailand and Laos.
