CORENT OPPIDUM
Oppidum de Corent, one of the region's major Gallic and Gallo-Roman archaeological sites.
The Corent plateau is home to one of the region's most important Gallic and Gallo-Roman archaeological sites. The first remains were unearthed during ploughing operations at the summit of the Puy de Corent. In 2007, the Département du Puy-de-Dôme acquired the site and enhanced the Gallic sanctuary, theater and large public square. New landscaping has recently been installed to enhance understanding of the site. The historical importance of this oppidum, remarkable for its societal, religious and political aspects, cannot be overstated.
