CORENT OPPIDUM
Corent Oppidum, one of the region's major Gallic and Gallo-Roman archaeological sites.
The Corent plateau is home to one of the region's major Gallic and Gallo-Roman archaeological sites. The first remains were uncovered during ploughing at the summit of the Puy de Corent. The Conseil départemental du Puy-de-Dôme acquired the site in 2007, opening up the Gallic sanctuary, theater and main square to the public. New landscaping has recently been installed to enhance understanding of the site. The importance of this remarkable oppidum cannot be overstated, whether in terms of its societal, religious or political aspects.
