KING TAKSIN PARK
A vast park located south-west of downtown Chanthaburi, home to an artificial lake, an equestrian statue and a monument.
A large park located southwest of downtown. In hot weather, families like to get together at weekends around the artificial lake. The equestrian statue in the centre of the park depicts General Taksin in heroic action, as can be seen on the 20 B note. This monument, dedicated to the memory of Military General Taksin, is erected in the shape of the helmet of this national hero. Before becoming king, Taksin had gathered an army in the Chanthaburi region and succeeded in driving out the Burmese invaders occupying Ayutthaya.
