Founded in 1959, China Airlines was for many years Taiwan's state-owned airline, not to be confused with Air China, owned by the People's Republic of China. Now privatized, China Airlines carried several million passengers in 2023 and has gradually established itself as one of the region's leading airlines. Although it does not yet offer direct service to Paris, several flights to Europe connect Taiwan with the Old Continent, via London, Milan or Frankfurt. Domestic flights connect Taipei with cities throughout the country.
