Built in 1952 and run for many years by Madame Chiang Kai-shek, the Grand Hotel is a symbol in Taipei. Oversized and built in the Chinese tradition with its curved roof and hundreds of vermilion red columns, it dominates the city. It is chosen to welcome all officials visiting the capital. Some people have nicknamed it the Dragon Palace, because it is said to house some 200,000 sculptures of Chinese dragons... Even if you don't live there, the Grand Hotel is open to the curious. At least take a look at it!
