Taipei's Shilin night market, built in 1899, is a must-see! Spanning Datun, Danan and Wenli streets, it has become a shopper's paradise, with ready-to-wear, leather goods, gadgets and jewelry. Prices are uniform, so there's no need to haggle. A haven for fashion victims, it offers trendy sneakers created by young designers. The old part is packed with restaurants and culinary discoveries: grilled meats, pearl tea, stinky tofu, noodles, oyster omelettes, Jiǎozi and fried fish.
