The descendants of Li Mei-chu decided to pay homage to the master by centralizing everyday objects, paintings and letters, testifying to the influence of Li (1902-1983) in island art. The Taiwanese are particularly attached to the figure of this painter from the island, while the regime of Chiang Kai-shek promoted mainly the art of mainland China. Li Mei-chu is known for his paintings depicting the daily life of his village Sanxia and the surrounding landscapes.
