Descending towards the sea (from Jinguashi, a short walk for the more athletic, a cab ride for the rest), the ruins of an impressive thirteen-storey building give you an idea of the gigantic proportions of mining under Japanese occupation. It was here that metals were processed, refined and separated, and today the site is a popular place for a stroll. Nearby, the Golden Waterfall (黃金瀑布) is a pretty waterfall with a golden sheen, due to metal deposits in the river. The sea is just next door.
