The Temple of the "Golden Mother" is a Taoist shrine, worshipping the same deity as its neighbor Sheng An, but whose followers belong to a different sect. The legend surrounding this temple dates back to the end of the Second World War, when the "Golden Mother" is said to have appeared to heal the sick. On the 18th day of the 2nd lunar month, thousands of pilgrims stream into the temple to cure their chronic ailments with prayers and offerings, hoping to receive blessings while burning incense.
