At the bottom of this cave is a miniature temple dedicated to Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) who is none other than a stalagmite covered with a red cloak. Many worshippers come here to gather, hoping to attract good fortune. Popular belief has it that a hundred years ago, a fisherman who could not find the island's shoreline would have been directed by a light coming from the cave. The villagers, intrigued, then went to the supposed cave and discovered the statue of Guanyin, as it is today.
