Located in the heart of the city centre, Kaohsiung's National Centre for the Arts symbolizes the renewal of the city. Inaugurated in 2018, the building was designed by Francine Houben, a Dutch architect known for designating the Martin Luther King Jr. Library in Washington. She was inspired to create this extraordinary museum of banyan leaves, the sacred tree of Buddhism. This cultural centre includes concert and theatre halls, an exhibition centre, etc.
