In tribute to the bombings of August 23, 1958 and the 587 soldiers who died, a park-museum was built in 1988 in the town of Jinhu, on the west side of the island. A sound and light exhibition attempts to convey the horror of the bombings: a rather successful experience. Outside, tanks, artillery and old fighter planes are on display. Inside, a collection of uniforms, weapons and equipment will interest lovers of military equipment.
