To the east of the Chenwei residence, the Kuningtou battlefield commemorates the 56-hour battle in 1949, which resulted in the victory of the Kouomintang troops over the forces of mainland China, resulting in nearly 4,000 deaths for the communist army, compared to 1,300 for the nationalists. The entrance to the battlefield, built in Chinese style, and the bronze statues just in front, are the main attractions of this place of remembrance.
