MAZU TUNNELS
Go there and contact
Mazu is home to Taiwan's most impressive tunnels for military use, such as the Beihai tunnel, dug into the granite (and therefore indestructible) over 700m. Its construction mobilized thousands of men and required three years of work. It can be visited, the entrance is free. The other tunnels in Mazu are often used to store sorghum wine. The visit is well worth the detour and offers a glimpse of the determination of the Taiwanese not to cede the island to the Chinese. We can go from one end of the huge tunnel to the other.
