In the most creolissime house in Victoria, the Fonseka family has been delighting legions of tourists since the 1970s and three generations, hundreds of whom have hung their business cards on one of the walls of this historic monument. A house full of atmosphere, which offers a pleasant bar in the garden where it is good to have a small aperitif before going to the table. A healthy and local breakfast will also be added to the unique menu (eggplant fritters, tuna steak, chicken curry, fish fricassee with vegetables, chatinis, rice, salad).

Riesige Enttäuschung! Kein frischer Fisch! Wir können leider die schlechten Bewertungen nur bestätigen. Es wurde uns als das Nonplusultra in Sachen Fisch empfohlen - und dann das. Getränke haben etwas länger gedauert, aber gibt schlimmeres. Wir haben die Fischplatte für zwei genommen. Positiv hervorheben möchte ich die verschiedenen Salate, die tatsächlich ganz gut waren. Das Chicken Curry, das hat schon jemand anderes geschrieben, war voller Knochen und Knorpel. Das ist einfach nicht schön. Das schlimmste war aber der Fisch. Das war definitiv kein frischer Fisch. An einem klebte noch Alufolie. Beide waren totgebraten und trocken. Und obendrein waren beide (wie das Chicken Curry und das Veggie Curry) lauwarm bis kalt. Ich habe noch nie gesehen, dass meine Frau ihren Fisch nicht isst - und dann gleich zweimal. Das ist echt peinlich für das angebliche kulinarische Aushängeschild. Und dafür knapp 100 Euro. Tatsächlich findet man auf der Insel Verkaufsstände an der Straße, an denen der frisch gefangene Fisch verkauft wird. Warum es dieser Fisch nicht in dieses Restaurant bzw. nicht auf unseren Teller geschafft hat, wird mir ewig ein Rätsel bleiben.

Wer Sterneküche erwartet ist hier falsch. Gutes bodendständiges kreolisches Essen und wirklich korrekte Bedienung. Am ersten Abend unseres Urlaubs eine perfekte kulinarische Ouvertüre.
