A spa on the hill with a breathtaking view.

While the Garden Villa and Garden Suite are superb, in the Villas de Charme, well-being is absolute: Zen decor, outdoor shower... The higher the villas, the more beautiful the view. Think about it when you book. The view from the hillside spa is breathtaking, and on the beach, a small bar awaits you. There's also a superb 300m2 swimming pool, surrounded by two restaurants and a bar. The sunset with a cocktail on the pontoon is unforgettable.

Worst hotel I’ve ever been. The service is inexistent. Check-in is held in group. I took a villa de charme for 5 nights, but left after two (without refund). In 2 days, in my room, I found 5 giant millipedes 20 cm long (two of them in the bed). The first night I woke up after a millepede bit me on the cheek. The second night, we barricaded in the room, but nevertheless, we found another millepede in the bed. We talked to the reception and they said that these things (waking up with a 20 cm insect on your face) can happen since the Seychelles is a tropical country. Already after the first night we asked the hotel to disinfect the room, but apparently that wasn’t enough. Moreover, my pregnant wife got a bacterial infection. Probably from the water since in La Digue there is no water reserve.

Jungle-style luxury nestled into the exotic paradise of La Digue.
Reaching the visible part of the property (i.e., pool, restaurant and reception pavillions), after a very short e-buggy ride from the port, made it clear that a memorable vacation was about to take off. But things only got really interesting when we started climbing the steep and narrow alleys that connect the reception to independent rooms (thankfully, still on an e-buggy!). The complex is in fact an impressive engineering feat, with suspended villas discreetly populating a very steep hilltop but offering outstanding coziness and breathtaking views over the lush vegetation and the sea (ours was a Villa de Charme).
Colours, materials, furniture and details are well thought of, down to the coconut-scented complimentary water and the bathing toiltetries, which I found to be the very best I ever used at a hotel (in particular the vanilla-scented ones). The bathroom has a very original semi-outdoor layout.
Breakfast is very good, maybe not top-of-the-world in terms of variety but very well presented in a neat waterfront buffet. On other meals, beware of the standard half-board plan in case you intend to live a full-creole immersion: buffet dinners are not always themed on local cuisine, and there are several external alternatives in the surroundings.
The pool area is not huge but very comfy and a great setting to enjoy a good sunset while facing Praslin. The spa offers nice jungle views but is only focused on custom-treatments, with no generic "thermal area". Service was overall good, discreet but effective, specially when it came to buggy drivers, always available and often plenty of suggestions on nice things to do around the island. Overall a very good solution to experience La Digue in a comfortable but not secluded way. Would definitely recommend!
