To celebrate the Unesco classification of raï as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, a new festival has been launched in Oran: the Journées de la chanson raï, open to world music. Organized for the first time in August 2024, the event, set up by the Algerian association "Racines culturelles de l'art et du patrimoine" and the Oran office of the Union nationale des arts culturels, featured concerts, an international symposium and exhibitions.
