Conveniently located in the center of town, near the post office, this was one of the two "grand" hotels of the colonial era. It opened in 1920 after some 30 years of renovation, but has been closed for several years now, awaiting a buyer. Total capacity used to be 220 beds, divided between 88 rooms and 8 suites. Marcel Cerdan - the famous French boxer - worked there as an employee and General de Gaulle once slept there.
After years of waiting, renovation work began in summer 2021. Reopening scheduled for late 2024.
