HEAVY MOUSSA
Fort Moussa, built in the century during the Spanish occupation and overlooking the Gulf, was converted into a museum in 1987.
Built in the 16th century by Pedro de Navarro during the Spanish occupation, the fort dominates the rounded gulf to the east of Bejaïa. It was subsequently occupied by the Turks from 1555. It was then renamed Ridjal Sebàa in tribute to the sacrifice of seven Bougiotte marabouts who fell on the battlefield, and later Bordj Moussa. In 1833, the French transformed it into a military barracks and then a place of detention. After a long period of abandonment, the site was converted into a museum in 1987. Magnificent view from the terrace.
