It was built between 1870 and 1890 by Mr. Poisat, a general in the French army, who named it "Château de la Comtesse" in homage to his wife. After independence, it was inhabited by families until the 1980s, when it was taken over by a private owner who transformed it into a hotel-restaurant. After several years in business, it was closed to the public until the wilaya of Béjaïa undertook renovation work to turn it into a youth hostel. On site, a small museum, restaurant and café. A true architectural gem.
