This grand mosque is an architectural masterpiece that took 23 years to build and was inaugurated in 1994. It is dominated by two minarets rising to a height of 107 metres. Its two prayer halls, arranged around a central patio, can accommodate up to 19,000 people. Inside, the upper part of the mihrab was carved on site from a single block of marble. The 13-hectare complex includes an Islamic university with three faculties, which opened in 1984. A soothing and impressive place.
