A modern city, home to the Frères Mentouri university, the two gigantic minarets of the Emir-Abdelkader mosque..

The modern city is dominated by the 22-storey tower of the Université des Frères Mentouri, inaugurated in 1971 and designed by Brazilian architect and designer Oscar Niemeyer. Also not to be missed, 5 km to the east of the Frères Mentouri university, are the two gigantic minarets of the Emir-Abdelkader mosque at the University of Islamic Sciences, built in the early 1970s with joint Algerian-Saudi funding. Even further south is the new town of Constantine Ali Mendjeli.
